Broad Convos 2 HFZF Zine Launch

Broad Conversations are gatherings in Hamilton, Ontario for feminist broads. Gatherings are structured to inspire new ideas and reflections on important themes within a feminist context.

The theme for this very special Broad Convos 2 x HFZF Launch is “participation” – how do we define, value, and manage participation as feminists, as women, as citizens?

We’re also launching SACHA’s collaborative zine ‘Messages of Support for Survivors’ at the next Broad Convos.

When: Tuesday, May 23rd – 7:30pm -9pm
Where: 541 Eatery & Exchange – 541 Barton Street East, Hamilton ON
Cost: FREE!

We interviewed one of the speakers at Broad Convos, Pearl Mendonca:

About myself:

pearl.jpgI’m super interested in all things mind, body, spirit and passionate about the well-being of myself and others.  I’m an Energy/Bodywork Practitioner in Hamilton, currently completing my 200-hour Yoga Teacher training.  I’ve spent most of my working life supporting/developing student leaders, which has been very rewarding.

What does feminism mean to you?

Equity.  Addressing inequity.  Advocacy.  Recognition of the intersection of experiences.  Celebration.

Who is your favourite feminist hero?

A combination of my mother, my grandmothers, my sisters, my teachers, my friends, my colleagues – the intricate web of community that has defined how I have come to learn about my feminism forms my favourite feminist hero – absolutely.

Why does Broad Conversations excite you?

It’s an honour to be part of a space/experience focused on discussion, perspective-sharing, intentional listening for folks – it’s rare to find these types of spaces, to share and learn, yet it is so needed and can be very healing, rejuvenating.
