Over 9000 hours a year. It sounds like a lot, but this number barely reflects the huge amount of energy, caring and time given by SACHA’s brilliant and dedicated volunteers.
This number accounts for actual hours at meetings or staffing the phone line or going with a survivor to the hospital or the police station. But it is does not factor in the many hours spent at home working on SACHA projects; studying and preparing for SACHA’s test phone call; time on the phone supporting new, or not-so-new, volunteers; thinking about and writing that next blog post; acting as ambassadors and answering questions about our work and feminism — talking to friends and acquaintances about rape culture, victim blaming, racism or SACHA services. The list goes on and on.
The passion, dedication and professionalism of SACHA volunteers are truly outstanding. We value you.
If you know a SACHA volunteer, please give them a high five from us!
