Today women in SACHA’s sewing group graduated! The Sewing Circle share skills and help each other with projects like pajamas, aprons, and shopping bags.
To celebrate the end of the sewing group, there was gifts, food, and awards. Participants displayed their projects for everyone to see and explained how much they had learned in the program.
Each group includes not only learning sewing skills but also learning about resources in the Hamilton community.
The participants in this group make us at SACHA better. We hope that you take all the skills and gifts you’ve learned in sewing circle and take it out in the community. The group is not just about sewing but about learning what our rights are in Canada and how we can support other women. — Sandra Lemus, SACHA’s Diverse Communities Outreach Worker
I will really miss this class especially the teachers Sandra and Myriam. They are very nice kind people. — Sandra, sewing circle participant
SACHA’s next Multicultural Women’s Sewing Circle will begin on January 6th. Contact Sandra at 905.525.4573 if you are interested in participating.
