Take Back The Night is a time to speak out, (loudly!), about our basic human right to be where we want, when we want, and how we want in a world where there is no violence against women.
As members of a womyn+trans cycling community, we’re Taking Back The Night for all of the times someone has yelled something sexist at us out the window of their car as they narrowly pass us on the streets. We’re Taking Back the Night for all of the times we’ve been leered at from a slow-moving vehicle or from the sidewalk. We’re Taking Back The Night for the times we’ve spent in crappy, male-dominated bike shops, being patronized by volunteer mechanics, made to feel like we can’t even handle bike tools, or that we’re not even worth their time. We Take Back The Night because we HATE the patriarchy, and all the violence it produces — we want to help demolish it! We Take Back The Night because we want to show our support to all survivors, and because we care deeply about building healthy communities that are bursting with vibrancy and strength!
Keep on rolling, and see you tonight!!
